    Read BibHQ’s explanation

Genesis 1–3 shows that God created everything good (Genesis 1:31) and made man in His image, with the freedom to choose (Genesis 2:16–17). Love and obedience only have meaning if they are freely chosen, so God gave Adam and Eve a real choice and a clear warning. Sin entered when they listened to the serpent instead of God (Genesis 3:1–6). God did not cause sin, but He permitted the freedom that made it possible. Even in that moment, God gave a promise: the seed of the woman would crush the serpent's head (Genesis 3:15). This is the first announcement of the Saviour. Sin was permitted, but it was never left without a remedy (Romans 5:12–19). Conclusion: God permitted sin because He created us free to love Him, and He already planned redemption through Jesus Christ.
